Cedaredge: Apple Country

Cedaredge is located in west-central Colorado on Highway 65 (Grand Mesa Scenic Byway) at the foot of Grand Mesa, the largest flat-top mountain in the world. Grand Mesa offers unspoiled spruce forests, quaking aspen glens and lush mountain meadows with so many wildflowers it could easily be nature's private garden. As a sports enthusiast's paradise, activities include camping, trophy hunting, hiking and Gold Medal fishing at more than 250 lakes.

Winter offers downhill skiing, snowmobiling and Nordic skiing. Cedaredge, located in the Surface Creek Valley, is surrounded by the towns of Austin, Cory, Eckert and Orchard City. Its rolling terrain is dotted with ranches, hay meadows and grain fields, as well as dozens of orchards producing apples, pears, peaches, apricots and cherries. In recent years, innovative growers have found the climate and mild seasons perfect for growing wine grapes; numerous wineries have been established and offer premium wines.

The town of Cedaredge celebrates the harvest in style with Applefest. Held the first weekend in October, this event offers fun-filled days of arts, crafts, food booths and music in the park. Don't forget the Little Britches Rodeo in July along with a classic car show and parade. Visit a multitude of galleries, antique stores, fine restaurants, motels and bed and breakfast establishments.

Also a must, is Pioneer Town in Cedaredge, a museum and living history village. Finally, there is Deer Creek Village Golf Course. This unique, 18-hole, 72-par golf course has elevated tees, rolling terrain and many hazards. This is a championship golf course you'll want to play again and again.
With one valley offering so much, there's absolutely no reason to wait any longer. Come visit the Gateway to the Grand Mesa.
